Elliotte Friedman just dropped a bombshell insight into what happened with Corey Perry and the Chicago Blackhawks as Perry looks to return to the NHL.

Elliotte Friedman Reveals Perry May Not Have Been Terminated Somewhere Else

Corey Perry was just determined to be eligible to return to the NHL after meeting with the League and discussing the incident. No details have been revealed on what actually happened to cause his termination, however, it was determined that it wasn't bad enough to keep him from playing this year.

Now, Elliotte Friedman has added a major insight into the incident, stating that there is a general feeling that Perry wouldn't have been terminated if he had played for another team.

«There is definitely a feeling here that if this had happened on any other team (besides the Chicago Blackhawks) it might not of led to a contract termination» (regarding Corey Perry terminated contract with the Hawks)

This goes back to Chicago's tainted past regarding its recent scandals. Clearly, they are taking no risks and have a very short leash regarding what is acceptable behaviour, and rightly so.

Perry Looking to Potentially Sign With the Leafs

With Perry's ability to return to the League this season, there is clearly an interest from teams to get him to sign before the deadline. One of those teams is the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to Carlo Colaiacovo.

With the deadline for Perry to sign a deal coming up in March, we will see if the Leafs or any team take the risk of bringing on Perry's baggage or if he will remain a free agent for the remainder of the year.
