Evgeni Malkin Disses The Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins are in an odd spot as an organization. The team is clearly going for another cup run with the Crosby-Malkin core, but the team is only getting older. After a slow start, Malkin let his team mates know how he was feeling.
Malkin Lays Into Team Mates
In his post-game interview after a 4-2 loss to St. Louis last Saturday, Evgeni Malkin let his frustrations out. He called out his team mates, letting them know that they have not been good enough this year.
"Great teams coming up on our schedule. We better start playing better. Playing smarter. Playing harder. Time to regroup. Tonight? No good. This game was just bad. I'm frustrated."
Penguins Make One Last Run At Cup
Last season was the first since the 2005-06 season in which the Penguins did not make the playoffs. This season, the Penguins are expected to make a push for not just a playoff run, but a lengthy one after they traded for Erik Karlsson in the offseason. The team was already the oldest in the league before the move and it made them even older as the 33-year-old is coming off a career year.
