In what was undoubtedly one of the most controversial games in recent memory, we saw the Toronto Maple Leafs get screwed on multiple game-breaking calls. These controversial decisions by the league may turn out to have larger implications for the NHL's rule-book, as one former player states.

Marty Biron Weighs in on Controversy

Former Sabres goaltender Martin Biron , who now works as an analyst, shared his thoughts on the interference plays committed in game 5. He said:

"Mark this tweet.

Next year the NHL will have a crack down on interference where the middle lane drive on 3v2 creates interference on the D like Gudas did on the OT goal. It wasn't called all year so you're not going to call it now but that will be addressed in the off season."

He then added, that small contact was fine, but clear and blatant sick grabbing like Gudas did has no place in the sport.

Former NHL referee Tim Peel added his own thoughts, stating that there was no chance these rule changes were ever made.

Peel was fired by the NHL after being caught on a hot mic stating that he was making a makeup call on certain teams.

What do you think? Are these changes going to be implemented by the NHL, or will we see no changes in the rulebook?

As Seen on Hockey Feed - 'Interference' from Gudas in Game 5 could lead to NHL rule change.
