Former Team Canada Player Makes Shocking Delaration on Ex-Head Coach
There's been a lot of controversies surrounding Team Canada lately. When we think of that team, it's hard to think past the 2018 scandal. However, a former player shared another story about the 2022 Olympics that's worth mentioning.
During the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Canada won a silver medal under the leadership of head coach Claude Julien.
Jason Demers, a former NHLer that was a part of the 2022 team made a concerning revelation about Julien.
Former Player Makes Major Declaration on Coach Julien
Ex-Team Canada player Jason Demers recently shared his experiences of the Olympics and working under Julien as coach.
"The Olympics went good. It's a little frustrating. The coach we had was I don't think fitted for that style of tournament. Who was the coach? Julien. I only say that because we butted heads quite a bit during that tournament.
His strategy wasn't good. Yeah, it's just different. He's just an old school coach and that just doesn't quite work in a tournament like that. And also you get a lot of guys from Europe that play and it's not NHL guys so these guys are used to a different system, they're used to a different way of playing hockey so it's like you have to cater to them.
So he got hurt, an unfortunate accident and I'm glad he's okay now. But Jeremy Carlton stepped in and he was incredible and it immediately shifted in the room
and the mood on the ice and everything started clicking."
It's rare for players to openly critique their former coaches like this. Differences of opinions between coaches and players are often in hockey, but they usually remain behind closed doors.
This might shed light on why Claude Julien hasn't got a job in the NHL since.
