Recently, a social media post has gone viral comparing Gary Bettman's salary of $9.6 million per year to that of the best players in the NHL.
Gary making 9.6 bananas a year is f***ing crazy. Gary you aren't out there on the front lines sacrificing your body. Pay the d**n players you cheap son of a b***h. I mean come on. This is ridiculous. 9.6?????? Gary, you have players making league minimum in Los Angeles and Anaheim and San Jose struggling to make ends meet to even fill their gas tanks to get to practice. You have the best athletes in the world (mcdavid, Matthews, Mackinnon, Pastrnak, Keller, Fox, Shesterkin, Larkin, Draisaitl, McAvoy, Nick Ritchie, Barabanov, Jack Hughes, Bratt, Petterson, Kyle Conner, Makar, Deslauriers, eichel, list goes on.) all making under 20M a year.
Maybe the conversation should shift from players taking pay cuts to build winning teams to Gary taking a pay cut to build a winning league. I've seen enough, I've heard enough, and I've HAD enough with this f***in s**t Gary. 9.6 bananas??????????? I'm DISGUSTED.

A Problem Deeper Than It Seems
While Bettman's $9.6 would make him the 17th highest-paid player, the actual number is even worse. NHL players pay an escrow of 17.2% which means that of the players in the NHL only, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Auston Matthews, and Artemi Panarin are the only players who make more than Bettman.
With Bettman being paid more than almost any other NHL player, there is a massive question about if he should take a pay cut. Bettman has been making $9.6 million since the 2014-15 season.
While Bettman has certainly grown the game, does he deserve to be compensated like he is?
