It's been over 48 hours since the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman heard the appeal of Jason Spezza. Spezza was suspended for six games for his illegal knee on Neal Pionk.
On Sunday, the NHLPA reported that they had filed an appeal on behalf of Spezza. The commissioner in League heard the appeal on Tuesday afternoon. As of this time today, there has still yet to have been a decision rendered according to Kevin McGran.
The Maple Leafs were set to to play the Calgary Flames tonight until tonight's game was canceled due to the Flames COVIDovid outbreak. This would have been Jason's 5th game of his suspension.
This continues to be proof of all the flaws in the NHL's appeal process as it truly seems like the league and commissioner Betmann are trying to force their suspension upon the players without a fair appeal process.
It's becoming clear Gary Bettman is trying to screw Spezza out of a fair hearing. The next step for this process is a hearing to be heard by an independent arbitrator should the Leafs and Spezza choose to go that route.
