Dryden McKay has been a hot topic this weekend, the highly touted prospect and Hobey Baker winner was looking like the next blue chip goaltender.
However that can all be for nothing after the U.S. Anti-doping agency announced a six month sanction on the Minnesota State goaltender.
This comes from Sportsnet hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman:
"Dryden McKay needs to undergo testing when he was tapped as an alternate goalie for the US Olympic from the Beijing Olympics games this past February."
The USADA announced goaltender Dryden McKay has accepted a 6-month sanction for his anti-doping violation.
Elliott Friedman reports McKay took an immune boosting supplement that contained a banned substance. Only due to his ability to produce a sealed sample of this supplement was his sentence reduced from 4 years to 6 months.
USADA's announcement revealed that under the laws as it's written, Dryden legally played all of his games, so his Hobey Baker award should be safe.
