The Carolina Hurricanes continue to feed into their feud with the Montreal Canadiens with a recent social media post.

The Backstory

Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been a public enemy in Montreal for some time now. After being drafted 3rd overall by the team in 2018, Kotkaniemi wasted little time before exiting after signing an offer sheet with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Montreal decided not to match the offer sheet and were compensated with a first and third round pick in exchange for their former third overall pick.

Today is Kotkaniemi's 23rd birthday and the Carolina Hurricanes have made a few posts about Kotkaniemi, including one that trolls the Canadiens.

The Troll

This past year on March 8th, Kotkaniemi and the Hurricanes traveled to Montreal to take on the Canadiens. In this game was tight ending at 3-3 in regulation.

This game eventually went to the shoot out where Kotkaniemi got a shot to score the game winner in the 6th round and he did exactly that.

This post seems a bit in poor taste considering how it was only one clip and it was versus his former team that hates him.

Nonetheless, Kotkaniemi has yet to completely live up to his massive $38.56 million contract. He scored only 43 points last season but will look to build off of it with the Hurricanes as it is his career high.
