This NHL insider just dropped some massive news that a potential blockbuster trade could occur between two Eastern Conference teams.

Pagnotta Confirms Trade Talks Between Canadiens and Captials

NHL insider David Pagnotta has just confirmed that the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals have engaged in some discussions on a trade which would include Anthony Mantha and Joel Armia.

"I'm told that the Habs indeed had a conversation with the Washington Capitals about Anthony Mantha and that forward Joel Armia was part of the discussion." - Pagnotta

This comes after rumours that the Canadiens have been shopping Armia after recalling him from the AHL.

Is This Even a Good Trade for the Canadiens?

The potential trade brings some speculation as to whether or not the Canadiens would benefit from the trade, or if it would be better for the Capitals. A trade would leave the Canadiens paying Mantha $5.7 on the year, hemming them in further in cap constraints. Mantha had 27 points last season in 67 games compared to Armia's 14 in 43 games.

Joel Armia steps into a Mitchell Stephens pass and just hammers a puck by Devin Cooley for a power play goal.

Who would win a potential trade?

As seen on Habs Fanatics - "Major: a trade between the Canadiens and Capitals involving two players is currently being negotiated, according to David Pagnotta"
