Insider Shreds Apart Sidney Crosby For His Antics During All-Star Weekend
Today new comments have surfaced from an NHL insider. During his remarks, the insider decided to take a major shot at Sidney Crosby for his distracting antics at All-Star Weekend.
Crosby Skips Out On All-Star Team Draft
Over the past couple of days reports have surfaced that have painted Sidney Crosby in a bad light. On Thursday the NHL did their All-Star draft. One notable absence from the big event was the All-Star for the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby. Instead of being in attendance for the draft a fill in was selected.
Since Crosby's absence was discovered it has been confirmed he was in Montana enjoying some rest and time on an outdoor rink. This news was not received well by one NHL insider who absolutely went in on Crosby.
Insider Shreds Apart Crosby For His Antics
Earlier today during his podcast NHL insider Frank Seravalli addressed the Crosby situation. Seravalli points out that no one has been upset about Crosby not being in attendance. He feels any other player would have gotten backlash for a stunt like this and Crosby isn't getting enough.
"I think it's garbage that, year in and year out at All-Star weekend, when he decides to show up and play, that Sidney Crosby doesn't get more heat from anyone. No one is ever critical of Sidney Crosby. 'Oh, he does so much for the game and does all these things that no one realizes'... That's great, he's been an unbelieve ambassador of the game of hockey.
A video surfaces of him skating at an outdoor rink in Montana enjoying some R&R yesterday. Why is it that every other NHL All-Star can show up and participate in the player draft but Sidney Crosby doesn't and no one says boo about it? It drives me absolutely insane because if it were any other player at any point in time, they would be crushing him, saying 'why are you too big for this?'
This is only his sixth or seventh All-Star Game total in his eighteen year career. It's bananas. Sid, we know you don't like it, but at least try and pretend a little bit."
Seravalli does have a point in his statements. These events are for the fans to see their favorite star players and have them be more accessible. The draft for the game allowed fans to see the personalities of many of the players. This is an opportunity that Sidney Crosby continually does not afford to NHL fans.
While Seravalli has a valid argument nothing is likely to change in this scenario. Sidney Crosby is one of the NHL's biggest stars and whatever they need to do to get him to participate in at least the All-Star game they will likely continue to do.
