Jonathan Huberdeau has had one of the worst starts of his career, and now he has opened up on how he feels about how the year is going.

Huberdeau Discusses Poor Start to the Year

Jonathan Huberdeau is coming off signing an 8-year deal with an AAV of $10.5 million. However, his play has not matched his pay. Huberdeau has started the year with just 2 goals and 4 assists through 12 games, and an even uglier -12 recording.

Recently, he was benched during the game against the Predators, not seeing any ice time in the third period.

Jonathan Huberdeau has yet to see the ice in the 3rd period.

Huberdeau opened up after the game about his year so far and took the blame on himself.

"It wasn't easy, I'm not going to lie. There's no pointing fingers. You've got to look in the mirror, I gotta be a better player. I know I've got it in me, I still believe in myself. I just gotta show it on the ice."

Flames Coach Explains Why Huberdeau Was Benched For Entire Third Period

After the game, Flames head coach Ryan Huska also detailed why Huberdeau didn't play in the third period. His reasoning was that Huberdeau just didn't have that extra gear that night, not something you want to be said about a $10.5 million star.

Flames head coach Ryan Huska explained why Jonathan Huberdeau was benched in the third period against the Predators.

As the season progresses, it will be harder and harder for Huberdeau to dig himself out of this slump.
