With hockey being such a physical sport, altercations between players are quite common. However, there are certain rules, both written and unwritten, that players are meant to follow regardless of the circumstances.

OHL Player Suspended Indefinitely For Making Death Threat To Opponent

The Ontario Hockey League determined today that Niagara Ice Dogs forward Alex Assadourian crossed the line in a major way as the league has suspended him indefinitely.

#OHL Disciplinary Action: Niagara's Alex Assadourian has been suspended indefinitely as a result of actions on Jan. 26th at Kingston.

The decision is based on Assadourian's actions after he took a minor penalty in his last game, which the Ice Dogs lost 10-0 to the Kingston Frontenacs. The 18-year-old seems to have lost his cool as he made comments and gestures directed towards a Frontenacs player from the penalty box.

Assadourian was seen as a legitimate NHL prospect by some last year despite his diminutive stature. However, he has followed up a point-per-game season with just 18 points in 28 games this year. The 5'8" forward is going to have no chance of making the NHL producing like that in the OHL. More importantly, teams will not want a player known to make these kinds of threats on the ice. Hopefully, this suspension will teach him a lesson.
