Last night the Minnesota Wild faced off against the Arizona Coyotes. In years past the Wild would be the contending team that would beat up on the Arizona Coyotes. However, this year roles seem to have been reversed.
The Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild find themselves both battling for a playoff spot. The Coyotes sit just three points out of a playoff spot while the Wild are closer to 10 points back. In what has become must win territory for the Wild if they want to start getting back in the race they fell flat. The Coyotes came out and wiped the floor with the Wild winning 6-0.
The embarrassing nature of the loss by the Wild led their fans to boo them off the ice. After being able to digest the loss one of the Wild's leaders spoke about the experience of being booed off the ice last night.
Mats Zuccarello is one of the most veteran players on the Wild roster. He has seen many highs and lows during his NHL career. Earlier today he spoke about his thoughts on the Wild fans booing the team.
Zuccarello takes responsibility and knows that the team needs to be better than they have. A lot of times when a team gets booed things can get ugly as the team turns on the fans. However, this is not the case the Wild seem to know that the fans are just passionate and expect better from the roster.
Now that Zuccarello admits the fans deserve better it is up to the Wild roster to show they can provide better. If things don't turn around soon the boos might continue for much of the season.
