According to a new report by Elliotte Friedman, Elvis Merzlikins and the Columbus Blue Jackets have hit a bump in the road with their relationship, and both sides could be looking to move on.
With many teams in desperate need of goaltending help, we're sure that the market for Merzlikins will be very active should the Blue Jackets try to trade him.
Edmonton needs to make a move now if they have any hope of competing in the playoffs this year. While there have been talks with other teams regarding goalies, nothing has come of those talks thus far.
Could Merzlikins finally be the goalie that Edmonton is able to acquire to turn around their season? We certainly think it's a possibility, but it wouldn't come cheap.
Edmonton would likely have to give up some combination of draft picks and prospects in order to get Merzlikins, but a roster player such as defenseman Brett Kulak could also be in play.
We'll have to wait and see, but things are looking positive for Edmonton.
