It was rumoured for over a week now that the New York Islanders had signed Kadri, but it was not being released or officially announced.
NHL Insider David Pagnotta has reported that it has now officially changed. The Islanders have signed Kadri to a monster deal with term!
Sources: Nazem Kadri and NYI have agreed on a contract, 7 years x $7.25 Mil AAV. NTC throughout the whole contract. David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeri0d) August 9, 2022
Kadri was originally seeking a 7 year deal with an AAV of $9 million, which many fans thought was ridiculous for a player who has only been a point per game once in his career.
At the age of 32, this 7 year deal will take him to the age of 39 and definitely put quite a bit of coin in his pocket!
