Kadri is another player who for many years now was on a very team friendly undervalued contract. For the last 6 years he had a contract with an AAV of $4,500,000.
According to multiple reports, Kadri and his agent are looking for double that on his next contract. Their hopes which is sounds like they are unwilling to budge on is $9,000,000 per season.
Kadri just had the best season of his career where he put up 87 points in 71 games, which he followed up with 15 points in 16 playoff games enroute to winning a Stanley Cup.
While Kadri might be looking to capitalize on the best season of his career, General Managers around the league don't seem to be valuing him as high as he values himself.
It was reported recently that the New York Islanders and Lou Lamoreillo were seriously interested in Kadri, and it was even thought that the Islanders had already signed Kadri and were just looking to move cap space to make it happen.
While this has not been made official and Kadri still being a free agent, Frank Seravalli reported what the Islanders offered Kadri for a contract and it's significantly lower than his asking price.
On the Daily FaceOff Podcast, Seravalli shared:

«I think (the #isles) put an offer on the table for Kadri. Other teams have told me they believe it's in the 7x7 range.» James Nichols (@JamesNicholsNYI) August 9, 2022
Kadri is 32 and this 7 year deal would take him to the age of 39, so $7 million for a player who has only been a point per game once in his career, seems like a very fair deal.
