Last week when Johnny Gaudreau left the Calgary Flames for the Columbus Blue Jackets, it changed the plans of the franchise. Entering this years playoffs, the Flames were true contenders and went all out on bringing in players to try and push to a cup this year, just to fall short to the Oilers in the second round.

Fast forward a few weeks and now the Flames are on the brink of collapse. First Gaudreau left, now Matthew Tkachuk is possibly leaving and this will change the path of the Flames significantly.

Tkachuk is currently a restricted Free Agent and it looks like he has no interest in signing a long term contract with the Flames, instead wanting just a one-year deal which would make him a UFA at the end of the season, which is something the Flames definitely cannot let happen.

Just yesterday, the Flames chose to file for team elected salary arbitration and now today it looks like they're trying to make a trade happen as soon as possible.

Eric Francis today on 101 ESPN in St. Louis said that he expects a possible Matthew Tkachuk trade to be wrapped up within the week. He said it was clear to him the two are parting ways.

Could we see the Ottawa Senators make a heavy push for Tkachuk to unite the brothers? Or did they add too many pieces already and no longer have space for him?
