NHL Reporter Reveals Update On Joel Quenneville's Status With NHL
Joel Quenneville is arguably among the most famous coaches the NHL has seen. He is also one of the best as he is second all time in wins by a head coach with 969. However, he has not been behind an NHL bench since the 2021-22 season due to his role in the 2010 Blackhawks coverup of a sexual assault. Now it remains to be seen if he will ever coach an NHL team again.
Reporters Gives Update On Quenneville's Status With NHL
Part of the results of the investigation into the Blackhawks confirmed that Quenneville was involved. As a result, the league removed his eligibility as a head coach and he has since been away from the league. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman noted that Quenneville would have to apply to reregister with the league before he can accept a new job. So far, that has not happened as confirmed by Blues reporter Andy Strickland.
Joel Quenneville still has not been cleared to return (at this time) to #NHL according to league source.
Some fans were wondering is the St. Louis Blues might be interested in bringing Quenneville back to the organization after they fired head coach Craig Berube.
Quenneville is best known for his time with the Blackhawks from the 2008-09 season through part of 2018-19. He had a 452-249-96 record with the team as well as three Stanley Cup Championships with the team. He is generally considered to be one of, if not the greatest coach in Blackhawks history, although his role in the 2010 coverup has greatly damaged his reputation.
