We are now 6 days past the National Hockey Leagues official trade deadline for the 2022-23 season, and despite this, we have now seen two post-deadline trades.
The American Hockey Leagues trade deadline is officially tomorrow March 10th, so we could see a few more of these trades made before then. The way it works is, teams can continue to make trades, but these players traded will not be eligible to play in the NHL playoffs.
This afternoon, a trade was announced that sent 35-year-old Steven Kampfer to the Arizona Coyotes from the Detroit Red Wings.
TRADE: The Coyotes have acquired D Steven Kampfer from the Detroit Red Wings for future considerations. Kampfer will report to Tucson (AHL).
In 40 games this season for the Grand Rapids Griffins, Kampfer scored 4 goals and 18 assists.
