The New York Rangers are looking to extend one of their young stars long-term.

Rangers Looking To Extend Lindgren

The New York Rangers are a youthful team with plenty of successful years to come. Among their young core, 25-year-old Ryan Lindgren is one of the most stable pieces on their blueline.

Commonly paired with Adam Fox, Lindgren is sound in his own end and is able to pitch in offensively on occasion with 63 points in 257 career games.

It was recently revealed that the Rangers would like to extend Lindgren long-term.

What We Could Expect

With the Rangers wanting to extend Lindgren in the low 4s, it means that we can expect them to offer a contract in the 4m-4.5m range in terms of AAV while the length of the deal would be dependent on how long Lindgren is willing to sign for.

A solid comparable for Lindgren's next contract would be Brett Pesce who signed a 6 x 4.025m with Carolina when he was younger. With Lindgren being a bit older and there being a higher cap, we could expect to see a similar deal look like 6 x 4.45m for Lindgren.

Lindgren has proven himself as a capable blueliner for the Rangers and already has fantastic chemistry with Adam Fox so any long-term contract under $5 million is a win for the Rangers.
