Darren Dreger today let the public in on a massive piece of information on which NHL team has a ton of interest in signing the veteran forward.
This is the full clip of what Dreger said when he joined the Sabres Live crew this morning.
The Buffalo native has long be linked to a possible home town return. The Patrick Kane sweepstakes has taken longer than many thought it would, but due to in part to Kane's surgery many teams have elected to wait to sign the American superstar. Despite what many would think, Sabres fans have had an interesting response to the news released today.
Buffalo Sabres fans have not taken the news well ad many are not on board with Kane coming to Buffalo. With many fans replying to the tweet begging the team to not sign the future Hockey Hall of Famer.
With many fans wanting the Sabres to become much better defensively the addition of a Patrick Kane who has never been known for his defensive abilities. It makes sense why fans would not want a forward with defensive liability issues.
The Sabres are still looking like the front runners to land the veteran forward. The Sabres currently have around $8.7 million in cap space, so they have room to sign Kane if they choose to. With a lot of exciting and youthful players waiting for their chance at the NHL level, the worry about adding a 34-year-old into the mix makes it hard to give everyone ice time.
It will be interesting to see if the Buffalo Sabres General Manager Kevyn Adams does pursue Kane.
