After the Bruce Cassidy firing, it was rumoured that it did not sit well with David Pastrnak and he wanted out of Boston. He agent came out after and stated that it wasn't true, but nothing has been confirmed.
Pastrnak is going into the final year of a contract that has been one of the most team-friendly in the NHL. He signed a 6 year deal back on September 14th 2017, that had an AAV of $6,666,667.
The Bruins will be looking to sign Pastrnak to an extension soon as he will be an UFA at the end of this deal and they don't want to risk losing their superstar like the Flames just did.
According to Dale Arnold the host of Bruins games on NESN, he revealed the price it's going to take to get a deal done with Pastrnak:
It's going to take $80-100 million dollars to get @pastrnak96 resigned in Boston. Hope it can happen. #NHLBruins Dale Arnold (@DaleEArnold) July 13, 2022
Assuming the Bruins do the right thing and lock him up to an 8 year deal, the Bruins will be looking at a cap hit of between $10-$12.5 million per season.
