Kirill Tyutyayev of the Toledo Walleye got himself into trouble earlier today when he made a play to clean up the ice. A fan had thrown a chicken nugget on the ice as both teams lined up for a faceoff. Instead of just picking up the nugget though, Tyutyayev decided to fling it back to where it came from with his stick. One of the referees noticed this however, and awarded him a 10-minute misconduct for the play.
This seems like a bit of an overreaction for such a small thing, but what can you do? It is possible the referee did not see what it was that the player shot into the crowd, so perhaps he thought it was a puck or something a bit more dangerous that a piece of poultry.
