Last night in the 3rd period of their preseason game against the Arizona Coyotes, 2020 2nd Overall Pick Quinton Byfield appeared to suffer a significant leg injury.
After the collision Byfield attempted to get to his feet but feel back to his knees almost immediately. Byfield was helped off the ice by teammates and training staff. Byfield was working hard to try and make the Kings team out of camp, but it was unclear where he was going to begin the season with Anze Kopitar, Philip Danault and Gabriel Vilardi all penciled into the the center spot on the top three lines.
This unfortunately was not the only injury of the night in Los Angeles as linesman Ryan Gibbons was taken off of the ice on a stretcher after an accidental collision with a player before the opening face off. Gibbons did provide the fans with a thumbs up on his way off the ice, which was a great sign.
We wish both Quinton and Ryan a speedy recovery.
