The 2022 NHL entry draft is coming quick, and the Montreal Canadiens have not given (atleast to the media) a definite answer on who they will be picking with the first overall pick, but many believe it will be the projected first overall Shane Wright.
While for the past few years, Wright has been the projected #1, over the last few months of the season, many believed Logan Cooley was pushing for that top spot, especially with his connection already to Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes.
But besides Wright and Cooley, another player believes he should go first overall, and that is Juraj Slafkovsky. Slafkovsky has already stated that he would be the first linemate for Suzuki and Caufield, but he has backed that statement up recently with this:
I score goals and create assists and that's what Montreal needs! I am ready to play in the NHL next year.
At the NHL combine a few weeks ago, a journalist at TVA Sports, Anthony Martineau, had this to say about Slafkovsky as well:
The Canadiens must draft him because "Montreal needs a player like him
Is Slafkovsky the better pick over Shane Wright and Logan Cooley?
