The Boston Bruins may be eyeing a big piece from the Ottawa Senators.
Pinto to the Bruins?
According to a source the Bruins may be in on restricted free agent Shane Pinto.
The Sneators are tight up against the cap and may be willing to part ways with Pinto as long as Ridly Greig could be better than Pinto.
«Ottawa wants to make the playoffs, but they're up against the cap, so we're talking high-end prospects that could crack the roster this season,» the source told BHN. «That's probably Fabian Lysell and Johnny Beecher.» The loss of Johnny Beecher or Lysell would be devastating to the prospect pool of the Bruins which is already pretty depleted.
However would the acquisition of Shane Pinto help this Bruins team that just lost their top 2 centreman?
Pinto a Replacement?
Although the Bruins and Senators have a "significant gap" according to Bruce Garrioch Pinto would be a big improvement to the Bruins roster that currently lacks a top line center.
Pinto has only played in 99 career NHL games with last season being a breakout season for him collecting his first ever 20 goal season and 35 points.
Although a young center the Bruins could mold him into a top center for their team. For Pinto it would allow him to have some room to grow as Stuetzle and Norris being well ahead of him in the depth chart meaning he is going to be stuck as the 3rd line center for a really good Sens team.
The Bruins would have to consider if giving up either Beecher or Lysell would be worth it for the 22-year-old RFA.
