We are now just a few weeks away from the start of NHL training camps and PK Subban, a former Norris winning defenceman is still a free agent.
Subban is coming off a contract that was originally signed by the Montreal Canadiens, that paid him $72 million over 8 years. He was traded not too long after signing this deal to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Shea Weber, then later traded to the New Jersey Devils.
Drafted 47th overall back in 2007, last season Subban is coming off a year where he scored 5 goals and 22 points while averaging just over 18 minutes of ice time.
In March, the Devils told Subban that they would not be re-signing him and would look to trade him at the deadline, but could not find any takers. Now we are over 3 months into free agency and he can't find any takers as a free agent either.
People have always talked about how good Subban would be at broadcasting. He has been on some shows before and has always done very well. It was definitely in Subban's mind that this could be a future career path, but the 33 year old definitely didn't think it would need to come this soon.
According to Jim Parsons, Subban may begin looking for other opportunities outside of hockey.
