Seattle Kraken GM has announced a decision on top draft pick Shane Wright and where he will be playing for the year.
NHL insiders reported the Ron Francis, himself a 4th overall draft pick when he was a player, has said of Wright:
I don't want to draw a line in the sand, but I would think he's with us for the year.
Widely predicted to be the number 1 overall pick, the OHL standout Wright saw his draft capital take a hit and he was selected 4th overall by the Seattle Kraken in the 2022 NHL draft.
Seattle finished 2nd last in the NHL last year in points, ahead of only the Arizona Coyotes.
Wright had an exception season last year with the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, scoring 94 points in 63 games.
Seattle is hoping Wright will help them improve on their record last year.
