Back in 2018 the New York Rangers traded away Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller to the Tampa Bay Lightning which gave them Vladislav Namestnikov, Brett Howden, Libor Hajek, conditional round 2 pick in the 2019 draft and the 28th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry draft.

The Rangers have one of the best defence cores in the league and they are young as well. On the right side they have Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba and Braden Schneider. So for a young defenceman to get a chance on this team, especially on the right side is going to be very difficult, with all of these players likely not going anywhere anytime soon.

That is where the 28th overall pick in the 2018 draft, Nils Lundkvist is at right now. Feeling like he doesn't have spot and isn't being given much of a chance to play, it seems like Lundkvist's time in New York might be done.

Unfortunately for the Rangers now, Lundkvist hasn't been receiving too much trade interest. It was rumoured that the Rangers were seeking a player of similar age and value in return for their young defenceman, but according to Insider Sheng Peng, the best offer they've received is a 2nd round pick.
