Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-1, andMaple Leafs forward Mitch Marner recorded a point to extend his streak to tie Darryl Sittler for the longest point streak in franchise history at 18 games.

What got overshadowed by the win and the huge accomplishment by Mitch Marner, was the fact that the team lost one of their top forwards during the game.

Calle Jarnkrok signed a 4 year deal with the Maple Leafs in the offseason, that carried an AAV of $2,100,000. He has proved to be a very valuable add for their bottom 6 ranks, but recently has even been elevated to the top 6 to play with Tavares and Marner.

Through 25 games this season, Jarnkrok had 5 goals and 4 assists, but has brought a lot more to the team than just points.

Last night he was injured during the game, and it has been announced that he will now miss some significant time with a groin injury.

With many players like Denis Malgin and Nick Robertson trying to earn a full-time role with the team, this could be the very opportunity they were looking for to earn more minutes.

But this is definitely a huge loss for the Maple Leafs.
