The other night in a game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres, a goal went in after the net taken off, which was originally called a no-goal. The play was then reviewed and due to the net coming off by their own team and the puck going in where the net should have been, it was later deemed a goal.

This had the hockey world losing their minds as normally when the net is taken off its moorings the play is dead, but with Toronto scoring they called it a good goal.

With the challenge room being in Toronto this has always led to speculation that calls go in the Maple Leafs favour due to some hometown bias. This NHL reporter believes just that:

They call that a goal for Giordano. That's a joke. That's an only-in-Toronto call.

While it is an interesting theory that the review office is biased, it's hard to argue that things are rigged for the Maple Leafs, they have not won a playoff series since 2004, they haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1967, so if the NHL is rigged for the Maple Leafs, they aren't doing a very good job.
