The New Jersey Devils officially Eliminated the New York Rangers from the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, and clearly the on ice tensions weren't the only ones felt. A fan altercation last night resulted in a Devils employee being hit in the face by an angry Rangers fan, a truly embarrassing look for the organization.
Devils Employee Wants to Find Fan Who Hit Him
A member of the Devils "Woo Crew", whose primary purpose is to hype up the crowd during the game, was doing exactly that following a Devils goal. A Rangers fan who was walking by took exception to the man simply doing his job, and decided that physical violence was the correct response to this situation.
The entire incident was recorded, and you can clearly see the fan approach the employee and punch him. The employee in question posted this statement on social media.
got sucker punched in the face twice by a rangers fan, at my job, doing my job, celebrating a devils goal, if anyone know who he is pls dm
The victim of the punching asks anyone who may know the man who punched him to reach out, and included a zoomed in picture of his assailant's face.
This type of behavior has no place in hockey, and needs to go.
