TSN Reporter Gives Major Update On 2018 Hockey Canada Investigation, Revealing Possible Charges For Players Involved
TSN reporter Rick Westhead has consistently been willing to take on challenging stories that other reporters don't want to get involved in. Today he gave us another key update on the 2018 Hockey Canada investigation.
Possible Charges From 2018 Hockey Canada Investigation Revealed
The entire 2018 Hockey Canada investigation seems to be coming to a head as multiple indicators all point to a conclusion coming shortly. Granted, there is still a lengthy legal process to take place, but it seems that the identities of the players involved will be revealed in the coming days. Additionally, some of the charges these players are facing have now come out.
"Several criminal lawyers who specialize in SA cases have told me over the past days they expected former 2018 World Juniors players facing prosecution for allegations in London, Ont., might face charges of SA and forceable confinement. Alex Formenton's attorney Daniel Brown told me today that the former Senators player has not been charged with either of those offences.
He declined to elaborate on what Formenton has been charged with.
If Formenton has been charged with common allegations, he faces a maximum 10 years in prison if he's found guilty. People convicted of SA a maximum of 14 years." - Rick Westhead
Now one of the players long rumored to be involved in the investigation has become the first to turn himself into the authorities.
Players Linked To Hockey Canada Investigation Begin Turning Themselves In
One of the players believed to be involved in the investigation is former Senators forward Alex Formenton. Today, he became the first individual to turn themselves in to London police.
BREAKING: Alex Formenton, a former NHL player with the Ottawa Senators and 2018 junior player, has turned himself into London police. "Alex will vigorously defend his innocence and asks that people not rush to judgment without hearing all of the evidence.»
Multiple Players Linked To Hockey Canada Investigation Leave NHL Teams
This comes after several players have requested leaves of absence from their teams. Devils players Michael McLeod and Cal Foote as well as Flames defenseman Dillon Dube and Flyers Goaltender Carter Hart have all been away from their teams in recent days.
This has lead many to believe that these are the five players requested to surrender to London Police. Stay tuned for important updates on this story.
