The Four Teams Willing to Risk Drafting Matvei Michkov are known
There's a few reasons why teams are hesitant to select Matvei Michkov at the draft.
The first is obvious: the situation in Russia. Second, the mystery surrounding his future. No one knows how long he'll stay in the KHL. Finally, his attitude seemed to cause a few problems.
However, he's the best player available at the 2023 draft behind Connor Bedard.
The team that will select him could have to deal with some issues. Nonetheless, four teams are interested in meeting him face-to-face.
Four Teams Want to Meet Michkov
At the combine, teams were able to meet with prospects, but Matvei Michkov wasn't there. Now, teams want to meet him before they make their decision ahead of the draft.
The Montreal Canadiens (5th pick), the Washington Capitals (8th pick), the San Jose Sharks (4th pick) and the Philadelphia Flyers (7th pick) all want to meet him.
"Nothing confirmed but Canadiens, Sharks, Flyers and Capitals all seem to be interested in face to face meeting with #Michkov #NHLDraft"
This doesn't mean he'll join any of these teams, but it shows that he has generated some interest in the League despite his controversial status.
