The Anaheim Ducks stumbled upon a superstar of the future in Trevor Zegras, who commands the attention of youth hockey fans everywhere, but now, they're at a major risk of losing him.
A low-ball offer
On Thursday, it was revealed that that the Ducks latest offer to Zegras was a terrible low-ball, with an AAV between $3M and $4M, and now, the fallout has already begun.
A few months ago, the 22-year old star revealed that he wouldn't step foot in California again without a new contract worked out, and after his latest social media statement, that may be true after all.
A strong message to the Ducks
Now, Zegras has officially removed all tied to the Ducks on his Instagram, and while this sometimes doesn't mean much, it's often a precursor to a blockbuster move.
After a career high in games played, goals and points, Zegras is setting himself up to get paid, and if the Ducks aren't prepared to be that team, there will be plenty lined up to land the rising star.
