Hungover or Sick?
Seven years after the fact, Tuukka Rask has finally set the record straight.
Though there had been a rumour during the 2015-16 season that Rask missed the final game of the Boston Bruins' season due to a hangover after getting a bit too drunk visiting the Newton, MA bar Buff's the night before (a game that saw the Bruins miss out on the playoffs after losing to the Ottawa Senators), the Finnish former goalie has clarified what actually happened.
Clearing the Air
During a recent appearance on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, Rask explained what actually happened, and that he'd actually gone to Buff's five days prior to that game, not the eve of (jump to 5:38 in the video).
«I went to Buff's like five days before that. I lived in Newton, and everybody was like, He went to Buff's. He [soiled] himself on the ice.' One of the older ladies, her daughter was working there at the time. She started that rumour, and then it [expletive] caught fire. I got sick at like 5 a.m. that morning, and we had a 12:30 game. But yeah, no Buff's I was puking and [pooping].»»
Well, that settles that, at least even if it doesn't quite erase the sting for Bruins fans of missing out on that year's postseason.
