Tyler Bertuzzi Had A Curious Reaction To Brad Marchand Following Teammate's Injury
Tonight Tyler Bertuzzi faced his former team in the Boston bruins for the first time tonight as the Leafs took on the Boston Bruins. Now the former Bruin is under fire for his reaction to Brad Marchand's antics.
Marchand Gets Away With Dirty Hit
Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren was forced to leave the game early tonight after he took a dangerous hit from Brad Marchand.
The Leafs were not to happy after this play. Not only was their teammate injured on the play but there was no call from the referee either. NHL insider Elliott Friedman confirmed tonight that Liljegren will miss 'significant time' with the injury sustained on the play.
Per @lukefoxjukebox, Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe says Timothy Liljegren will miss «significant time.»
Bertuzzi Scrutinized For Strange Reaction
The Leafs added Bertuzzi in the offseason as a way to add some toughness and scoring at the same time. He is one of the players that is supposed to stand up for his teammates when things like this happen. He did not seem interested in doing so tonight.
Awhile after the play, Marchand skater towards the Leafs bench, appearing to get involved in some chirping with the Leafs players. One player who did not seem to be bothered by this was Tyler Bertuzzi, who sat at the end of the bench with a big grin on his face.
These are meant to be the kinds of plays that gets Bertuzzi fired up but instead he seems to be treating the situations as just one of the nights with the boys. Perhaps other new Leaf Ryan Reaves will have to show him how its done.
