Roy has been the Head Coach of the QMJHL's Remparts since 2018, after a three year stint as the main man in Colorado.
After winning the Jack Adams Award for NHL Coach of the Year in his first season in charge of the Avs in 2013/2014, Roy's Avs slowly declined before Roy stepped down from his position in August of 2016 citing a lack of input in personnel decisions.
As for coaching vacancies in the NHL, the Capitals, Predators, Blue Jackets and Ducks all found their guys leaving only the Calgary Flames and the New York Rangers as the only teams with vacancies as of right now.
Neither of these teams seem to fits for Roy's fiery personality, at least on paper.
Calgary just got rid of Darryl Sutter, a man known for his grouchy and demanding styler, which nearly led to to a player revolt at the end of the season.
The Rangers on the other hand, fired Gerard Gallant a coach who was known as a players coach in his time in the NHL. The Question is if Roy can handle the constant scrutiny that comes with playing the the biggest media market in North America.
It seems as though Roy may have to wait for another vacancy to open up before, making his long awaited NHL return.
