Western Canadian Contender Looking At Potential Massive Trade For Marc-Andre Fleury at the Deadline
Marc-Andre Fleury is rumoured to be on the trade block this year, and now it has been reported that this Western Canadian contender could be looking to trade for him.
Edmonton Oilers Considering Trade for Fleury At Deadline
With the trade deadline fast approaching, talks about potential deals are heating up for teams that are looking to go all in this season. One of those teams is the Edmonton Oilers, who have clawed their way back into the conversation as a potential contender after a terrible start to the year.
Now, it appears they are looking to add to their shallow pool of goaltending this season, potentially looking to trade for veteran Marc-Andre Fleury at the deadline, according to Elliotte Friedman.
"Elliotte Friedman believes the Edmonton Oilers have serious interest in G Marc-Andre Fleury." TheMug said in a post on Instagram.
The Oilers have been getting by on the play of Stuart Skinner, who wasn't intended to be a solo number one this year but has stepped up after the poor performance of Jack Campbell.
Oilers Could Use Goaltending Down the Stretch
We all know how difficult it is for a goaltender to stay hot for the entire year. Skinner has done an incredible job stepping up to the plate for the Oilers and has been a massive reason they are even in the conversation this year. However, it would be smart for Edmonton to have a backup plan or 1b option for Skinner down the stretch.
The question becomes who will the Oilers give up in order to bring in Fleury's salary of $3.5 million, and is it worth going all in for?
We will see what happens at the deadline.
