Matt Rempe has taken the Rangers and the NHL by storm in his 10 games, but now his Head Coach is seemingly trying to reel it in.

Just 10 games into his NHL career, 21-year old rookie Matt Rempe has fought some of the NHL's biggest names in Ryan Reaves, Nicolas Deslauriers, Mathieu Oliver and Matt Martin, making a huge name for himself.

Unfortunately, that hasn't gone over perfectly with the crowd, as Rempe has put himself in plenty of danger, both on the ice and away from it, as fans grew concerned about his injuries early on.

Many have called for him to stop the fighting, as continuing it will only encourage other veterans to step up to the plate and drop the gloves, with Peter Laviolette, the Rangers Head Coach the latest to do so.

Interesting comments from Peter Laviolette on Matt Rempe. He said they've had talks about having fewer staged fights. He didn't want Rempe to fight MacDermid early vs NJ because the #NYR viewed the Bastian hit as clean. Then the refs stopped a fight after the Siegenthaler hit.

Like those fans, Laviolette has talked to Rempe about turning down plenty of fights, with the Rangers Head Coach revealing that the team believed Rempe's much talked about hit on Nathan Bastian was clean, with him encouraging the 21-year old to turn down any retaliatory fight.

Now, it appears as though the Rangers Head Coach has taken the welfare of his young star into account, and while we may see him fight again, it's very unlikely that it will happen at the same rate as we've seen to start his NHL career.
