The Ottawa Senators acquired former Vezina winner Linus Ullmark from the Boston Bruins a few weeks ago, and now it appears he may not be with the Sens for long.

Insiders Frankie Corrado as well as Elliotte Friedman recently revealed that Linus Ullmark may likely only be a rental in Ottawa as he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season, and he hasn't been too keen in wanting to discuss a contract extension.

"The whole contract situation and the talks about that, that is something that (Senators GM) Steve (Staios) and my agent will deal with off to the side. I told them as well that once there is something that needs to be discussed, you can always reach me ... I try not to look too far ahead.

"I try to stay in the moment and not worry about what may or what could be in the future and instead, just enjoying the present."

Friedman on 32TP: «I am under the impression here that Linus Ullmark, unless he gets the extension he wants, he is prepared to play this out»

There is still a full year ahead for both sides to come to an agreement on an extension, however, Senators fans have faced their fair share of pain and suffering regarding their team's goaltending situation over the last few seasons, so hearing that there is absolutely no progress on an extension is likely extremely frustrating for the fanbase.
