John Tortorella is well-known around the league for his firey personality. It wasn't long ago he was suspended for a few games and fined $50 thousand for refusing to leave a game after being ejected by the officials. While the Philadelphia Flyers knew what they were getting when hiring John Tortorella, he may be going a bit too far.
After last night's loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, John Tortorella refused to talk to the media, sending out the Flyers' assistant coach instead. Fans were not happy with this, as it looked like he was avoiding responsibility for his loss.
There is no doubt that John Tortorella is a good coach. The Flyers are sitting in a good position down the stretch, and should more than likely be in the playoffs, as long as they don't fall off a cliff in the final stretch here. John Tortorella is a big reason for this success, as he holds all of his players accountable, like scratching the Philadelphia Flyers' Captain when he thought he wasn't playing well enough.
However, he needs to find the appropriate line to toe when it comes to toning down his personality at times. Obviously, fans want to hear from the head coach after games, and it is embarrassing for the franchise for John Tortorella to duck this responsibility.
