The Toronto Maple Leafs have been without Mitch Marner for close to a month now. He was injured during a game against the Boston Bruins. A couple of days after the game it was announced that Mitch Marner had been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.
After this diagnosis, the team originally had said he would only miss a couple of days. However, at this point days have turned to weeks and weeks could soon turn into a month. With the Stanley Cup playoffs in the coming weeks, fans have been clamoring for an update on their star forward. This afternoon NHL insider Darren Dreger was finally able to give the update he uncovered.
In a segment where Darren Dreger joined the First Up Show to discuss Mitch Marner and other Maple Leafs topics. When discussing Mitch Marner's injury Darren Dreger says he was told that the Maple Leafs' secure spot in the playoffs contributed to Mitch Marner being out for so long.
The Toronto Maple Leafs fans can now breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to Mitch Marner. On top of the positive news for Mitch Marner the Maple Leafs also announced some exciting news on other injured players. Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi who had been dealing with sickness is ready to hop back into the lineup.
With just over 10 games left in the season, it will be fascinating to see if the Maple Leafs bring back Mitch Marner before the end of the season. If not he will have to adjust on the fly and get back into the flow of the game in the most important games of the team's season.
