The former second-round pick has been a depth player in the Detroit Red Wings lineup while only being 23 years old. Despite his impressive play this season in limited action, Jonatan Berggren will likely spend the rest of the season in the AHL after playing 12 games in the NHL.Unfortunately for Jonatan Berggren over the last 5 games he had been a scratch in every single one. He will now head down to AHL Grand Rapids who are one of the best teams in the Central Division and likely heading for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
With Jonatan Berggren heading back to the AHL, the focus will shift back to the veteran players in Detroit looking to bring the Red Wings back to the playoffs. The Red Wings have not made the playoffs since 2016 after being one of the most dominant franchises in the NHL for almost two decades.
