The Washington Capitals introduced TikTok as the official sponsor of their away-game jerseys, announcing a new partnership with the social media behemoth.
On Monday, the Capitals announced a multiyear deal that puts the TikTok logo on their road jerseys with the team's special 50th-anniversary emblem. While Caesar's Sportsbook remains the sponsor of home and alternate jerseys, the black-and-white TikTok patch now will be front and center on the road uniforms.
Beyond the branding on the jersey, TikTok is deeply invested in the Capitals' larger promotional efforts. The service is sponsoring the team's 50th Anniversary Celebration. It's backing away-game broadcasts on Monumental Sports Network, and supporting the Capitals Radio Network's "Road to Success" coverage. During games, fans will also see TikTok ads in the arena.
Fans of the team are furious with this latest development and have taken to social media to ensure their angry voices are seen and heard.
The new road jerseys that include the TikTok logo will hit the ice for the first time on September 24th in a preseason matchup against the Boston Bruins.
