A New Kessel Joins the NHL
Amanda Kessel has been one of the best players in women's hockey for over a decade now. She has helped to grow the game of hockey and inspired hockey players all over the world. After representing Team USA on the biggest of stages Kessel is in for a new challenge.
Olympic Hero
Kessel's playing career is filled with impressive accolades. She accumulated 74 points in 60 games with Team USA at various World Championships and Olympic Games. As of now, Kessel is listed to be playing in the PWPHA for the 2023-24 season.
Amanda Kessel Hired by The Penguins
Over the weekend Amanda Kessel was officially brought into the Pittsburgh Penguins organization under the title Assistant to the President of Hockey Operations. This is an organization that the Kessel family as a whole will be very familiar with as Amanda's brother Phil played in Pittsburgh for several seasons and racked up two Stanley Cup Championships.
She recently served in the Penguins Executive Management Program last season.
NHL Committing to Diversifying Front Offices
Over the past few seasons, the NHL has started to commit to adding a more diverse group of people to their organizations. This includes the hiring of several women like Amanda to high-ranking positions. The NHL still has a lot of progress to make in diversifying the game but getting people from demographics that are traditionally not as involved in NHL hockey into positions of power is a great start.
