Apparently the Detroit Red Wings are showing heavy interest in Barry Trotz, but we don't know if an official offer has been made.
The Yzerplan is well underway and at the time of writing, it was just announced that Red Wings rookie defenceman Moritz Seider has just won the Calder trophy as the leagues best rookie.
Friedman on 32TP talking Trotz/Detroit: "I still think Detroit's been around it, there's still some people who think it will be Halpern or Lalonde from Tampa Bay, but until Steve Yzerman closes the book you don't close the book". NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) June 19, 2022
The Wings have made vast improvements these past few years under Yzerman at the helm, but they still need a coach that can bring to the playoffs.
With all the exciting young talent that the Wings offer like Seider, Raymond, Larkin, Vrana, Zadina, Hronek and many more, maybe Trotz will see this as a project that he can grow and mold into a team that will play his style at a young age.
What we do know is, the Wings are going to be a force to be reconned with these next few years no matter who is behind the bench, but if Trotz is on it, they will be that much better!
