The offseason trading is starting and one of the biggest names that never got traded at the trade deadline for J.T. Miller.

The Washington Capitals had an unfortunately short ending to their season, losing to the Florida Panthers in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

After the season ended 2 stars of the Capitals, Alex Ovechkin and Nicolas Backstrom revealed they were playing with injuries.

After is was announced Backstrom had surgery there has been speculation the Capitals are interested in acquiring forwards from other teams.

The Capitals have been rumoured to be inquiring about Vancouver Canucks right-wing J.T. Miller (who can also play center) and pending unrestricted free agent center Nazem Kadri, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Miller, 29, has one year left on his contract that pays him $5.25 million against the NHL salary cap, and is expected to be traded to a team looking for more firepower to make a deep post-season push like the Capitals.

Miller set career-highs with 32 goals, 67 assists, 99 points in 80 games for the Vancouver Canucks. Miller has earned at least 43 points in each of his seven full NHL seasons and has averaged 1.04, .87, and 1.24 points-per-game, respectively, in his three years in Vancouver.

Kadri is also coming off of a career-year with the Colorado Avalanche where he set personal highs in goals (28), assists (59), and points (87) in 71 games on a team that finished the regular season fourth in the NHL in goals-per-game (3.76). Prior to this season Kadri had only hit the 60 point mark once.

Both players will be enticing for many teams looking to upgrade their offences, and both are having career years at the right times in their contracts.
