For years now the Columbus Blue Jackets have been having a hard time holding onto star players, but when Zach Werenski signed a long term deal to stay with the Blue Jackets, it started something that has helped the franchise bring in some elite talent.
Werenski has always been one of the most underrated defenceman in the league consistently putting up 10+ goals and 40+ points on an offensively challenged Blue Jackets team.
The Jackets have been underacheiving so far this season in what they hoped would be finally their year to make a playoff push after bringing in star forward Johnny Gaudreau. Through his 13 games this season, Werenski has 3 goals and 8 points.
The unfortunate news now though is Werenski is now being shut down for the season with an injury.
CLB announces Zach Werenski suffered a separated shoulder and a torn labrum. Expected to be out the rest of the season
