After his recent signing with the Edmonton Oilers, the Corey Perry termination story has resurfaced. This time a former NHL All-Star was able to confirm why Perry was released.

Former NHL All-Star Accidentally Reveals Why Perry Was Terminated

During a recent podcast appearance former NHL All-Star and current analyst for NBC Chicago John Scott spoke about the Corey Perry situation. While discussing Perry's termination in Chicago he let the events of the night of the incident slip.

According to Scott, Perry drank too much during a team party and made a pass at an NBC staff member. This was reported up the chain within the Blackhawks organization and led to the investigation.

Confirmed by current NBC Sports Chicago broadcaster John Scott that Corey Perry «made a mistake in Columbus one night, drank too much and made a pass at a staff member who worked at NBC». If that's all Perry did then it's not a big deal and nobody should be concerned

Scott believes that with the Blackhawks' history, Perry was released prematurely compared to how it would've gone down in other organizations. Regardless of how things were handled Perry is now in his new home with the Edmonton Oilers and learned some valuable lessons while taking time to better himself.
